Revisiting Libya


According to an article from Guardian. Rebels are going through towns and burning down the houses of “pro-Ghaddafi supporters” which Libyan officials say is not a policy by the state.

After watching the video (below) a different type of narrative begins to emerge when the woman speaking at 1:44 into the video where the narrative begins to conflict with the reporting from the Guardian article. This video shows elements of racism against the inhabitants of Tawergha, which also appears to be supported by the local military commander.

Just something to think about while the narrative unfolds and we continue to aid the TNC in rebuilding Libya. Could this oppression of blacks be indicative of things to come? How is democracy really seen in the Arab-Libyan’s eyes?
